Day 1

Arrive at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport Guyana. After which you will be transferred to Georgetown, the capital city and chief port of Guyana, which is situated on the right bank of the estuary of the Demerara River. This site was originally chosen as a fort to guard the early Dutch settlements of the river.  Upon arrival you will be checked into your Hotel.

After settling into your room you can either take the opportunity to shop for souvenirs, craft, and jewellery, or any other knick-knacks that your indulgence allows you.

Enjoy Georgetown’s night life or relax and have a sumptuous dinner at one of our restaurants.

Day 2

After breakfast at your Hotel, depart for the Eugene. F. Correia International Airport for your flight which departs for your destination at 10:00am (if weather permits) via a Trans Guyana Airways schedule flight to Kaieteur Falls.  Kaieteur Falls is situated on the Potaro River, boasts the largest single drop in the world at 741 feet, five times the height of Niagara Falls.

After two hours hiking at Kaieteur, you will embark on a twenty five minutes flight to Orinduik Falls.

Located on the Guyana-Brazil border, the Orinduik Falls is where the Ireng River thunders over steps and terraces solid jasper with a backdrop of rolling grass- covered hills of the Pakarimas Mountain Range.  This is truly one of the most beautiful locations in Guyana.

After an enjoyable day, you’ll depart for Baganara Island where you will spend the night.

Day 3

On this morning around 6am, you will have a chance to explore the nature trail where a guide will walk you through the mildly challenging terrain as you look for birds and wild life discover nature at its best in unspoilt surroundings.

The rest of the morning can be as relaxing or adventurous as you decide. After you have enjoyed our delicious buffet lunch, you will be invited to choose from a variety of activities such as kayaking, fishing, table tennis or volleyball to name a few or you can just relax.

After lunch at about 4:30pm, prepare for your journey back to Georgetown. You will be depart the Resort via Trans Guyana Airways scheduled flight to Eugene. F. Correia International Airport after which you will be transferred to your Hotel.

Day 4

At 6:00am you will depart for the Eugene. F. Correia International Airport for your flight to Lethem via Trans Guyana Airways scheduled flight which departs Ogle at 7:30am.  Upon arrival at Lethem, you will be transferred via bus to Rock View Lodge for lunch before departing for Iwokrama River Lodge. The journey  from Lethem to Rock View Lodge is approximately 3 hours and from Rock View Lodge to Iwokrama is 2 ½  hours depending on the condition of the road.

After lunch, you will leave the River Lodge and continue south-west along the Iwokrama Road to the Atta Rainforest Lodge and Iwokrama Canopy Walkway. If you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of the elusive Jaguar, South America’s largest cat.

The 154 metre (505 ft.) state-of-the-art Iwokrama Canopy Walkway offers a totally unique experience in the region and envelopes you in the jungle’s mid-level canopy through a series of suspension bridges and decks from heights of up to 30 metres (98 ft.). You’ll have the chance to see birds like the Green Aracari, Scarlet Macaw, Guiana Toucanette or Channel-bill Toucan. Red Howler Monkeys may also be observed. Check out the epiphytes such orchids and bromeliads, and look for the amazing parasitic Ficus plant as it engulfs another tree. There is also the Greenheart Tree, the Waramadan (endemic in Guyana only to the Iwokrama Forest) and the poisonous Aromata!

Upon arrival at Iwokrama, get settled in to your room and familiarize yourself with the Lodge and it surroundings.

After a relaxing dinner, join us for a cruise on the Essequibo River through the black of night, maybe lit only by a pale moon. Your guide shines the spotlight and there it is… the red-eye glare of the Black Caiman! Frequently and closely seen lying on the river banks, the world’s largest of the alligator family grows to 6 metres (20 ft.) long. A boat ride at night may also introduce you to other nocturnal creatures such as Tree Boas, Pacas, Nightjars, and Hula tree frogs.

 

Overnight Iwokrama River Lodge – D

 

Day 5

Before breakfast, explore one of the nearby wildlife trails near the River Lodge with an experienced Iwokrama Guide. You will see the Mora, Soft Wallaba and Wamara trees and may be able to view the Screaming Piha, the Grey Chinned Hermit, Gray Antbird, Chestnut Woodpecker, the Gray-winged Trumpeter, and the Black-necked Aracari.

After breakfast you will leave the River Lodge for a 30 minute boat ride to the foot of Turtle Mountain for a mildly challenging hike to its summit at 290m.This hike takes about 1-11/2 hours but the breathtaking views are more than worth the effort.

Turtle Mountain provides a gorgeous view of the top of the rainforest canopy: Visitors will gaze upon several often hazy mountain ranges, the dense emerald jungle and the mighty Essequibo River .The summit also offers an opportunity to see several species of monkey including the Red Howler, the Black Spider and the Wedge Capuchin.

After leaving the walkway visit the Kurupucari Falls to see the Amerindian Petroglyphs. These stunning works of art are estimated to be over 6,000 years old and best seen during low water season, then visit the small Amerindian community of Fair View.

Return late afternoon to the River Lodge and spend a relaxing evening enjoying dinner in the Fred Allicock Building overlooking the scenic vistas of the Essequibo River.

Day 6

At dawn you can take an early morning boat trip round Indian House Island. Keep an eye out for the butterflies, snakes and macaws as they come out to have “breakfast” on the edge of the island. This early morning trip also gives you a chance to hear the dawn songs of the five species of Tinamou, Marbled Wood-Quail, Band-rumped Swift, White-banded and Black-collared Swallows, and many more!

After breakfast, you will be transferred via road to Rock View Lodge for Lunch before departing for Lethem. The journey  from River Lodge to Rock View Lodge  is approximately 2 ½  hours and from Rock View Lodge to Lethem is 3 hours depending on the condition of the road.

Upon arrival at Lethem, check-in for your flight to Eugene. F .Correia International Airport via Trans Guyana Airways.   Check-in for the flight is 2:30pm – 3:30pm with a departure time of 4:30pm.

Day 7

You will be transferred to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport for your flight for your next destination.
