KARANAMBU RANCH

Karanambu, conceived in 1927 by Tiny McTurk, started as a cattle ranch and home for the McTurk family. In 1983, Diane McTurk started the Karanambu Lodge. Sitting on the edge of the Rupununi River just between the lush rainforest and the rolling savannahs, Karanambu is the ideal place to go if you wish to experience Guyana’s wildlife. The lodge was created just for this purpose, to encourage tourists to visit and to grant them the rare opportunity to see and feel nature in its pristine state.
	As an active wildlife conservationist, Karanambu’s mission is to provide eco-tourism services without Guests at Karanambu can enjoy excursions down the Rupununi River, Simuni River or to Simuni Lake where they can witness Giant River Otters, monstrous Black Caiman and Giant Anteaters. For an additional fee, guests are allowed to engage in sport fishing with catch limits. Though the accommodations are simple, they are comfortable and the hospitality here is unmatched. Come spend a while at Karanambu, go back to basic, experience Guyana in its most natural state.
