ITINERARY:

DAY 1

Arrive in Paramaribo via Trans Guyana Airways/ GUM Air on a scheduled flight. Proceed to check into your Hotel – Marriott Hotel, where you can enjoy dinner or go for an afternoon stroll.



DAY 2

Paramaribo City Tour – After Breakfast, you will be taken along the magnificent Waterkant (waterfront) of Suriname where a hundred years ago, large sailing ships came ashore to pick up sugar, coffee and cocoa. Here you will see ancient-old monumental buildings where rich merchants and plantation owners used to live.  You
will be taken to Fort Zeelandia which is now used as a museum. Also we will continue our walk to the former governor residence which now servies as the presidential palace.  Walking across the Independence square you can also see the flag square.  After a short walk along, amongst others, some of the governmental buildings in the Henck Arronstraat you will come upon the Saint Peter & Paul Catheral.  We will have a drive over the Wijdenbosch brug (which connects Paramaribo to the district of Commewijine), a short visit to the market, (to get an impression of the daily living in Suriname), a visit to the 18th century Jewish Sinagogue and the Islamic temple who are standing in peace side by side.  A very unique sight! (Included: drinks – non-alcoholic, snacks & guide)
At the end of the day you can choose to relax and go Dolphins-spotting.

Leaving at 16:15 hrs back at 19:15 Hrs – from Leonsburg by boat searching Dolphins at the confluence of the Suriname and the Commewijne river or near the Atlantic Ocean until the sun sets. (Included: Snacks, drinks – also wine).

DAY 3

Commewijine Plantations Boat Trip – After Breakfast take a tour across the Suriname River at the right river bank which lays the District of Commewijine. Commewijine has a rich Dutch History and our guide will take you to several old plantations and tell the great stories behind each of them. Starting at 09:00 hrs in the morning, we'll drive with a coaster or mini bus to Leonsberg. From there we will take a traditional Javenese Boat
across to the Museum Fort Nieuw Amsterdam. Here, we will visit the old penitentiary, powderhouse and other remains of the fort. From Nieuw Amsterdam, back on the boat this time we will go into the Commewijine river. We visit Rust & Werk former coffee plantation, we pass Marienburg former sugar plantation. Lunch at Frederiksdorp, old coffee and cocoa plantation.  Back in Paramaribo at 17:00 hrs.

DAY 4

After breakfast depart Suriname via schedule TGA/Gum air flight to Guyana on arrival You will be transferred to your hotel, freshen up and then it’s off to a city tour of the Georgetown.
Georgetown City Tour – Georgetown is the Capital and largest town in Guyana, originally chosen and designed by the Dutch as an outpost to protect their settlement.  
The layout of the city models a rectangle which boasts a number of drainage canals as the city is below sea level.  The combination of wood work and concrete architecture dates back to the turn of the 19th century.  Along Main Street you see many such examples, included in this excursion are visits to Museums rich in natural and cultural history to exhibits our proud heritage.  Stop at the famous Stabroek Market, in the past known as the ‘bizarre bazaar’ as it sells just about everything that is truly Guyanese.

Day 5

Day 6

Kaieteur/Baganara Tour – Nothing beats the combination of the majestic Kaieteur and the luxurious beauty of the island resort of Baganara.  Board an aircraft at ogle to experience the beauty of the Kaieteur Falls which boasts a drop of 741ft, five times the height of Niagara for 2 hours.  Enjoy a snack before embarking on a flight to Baganara. Pre-eminent among the 365 Islands in the Essequibo River, 187 acres of lush green foliage and colorful tropical flowers, 5 miles south of the gold mining town of Bartica, it is the gateway to the unspoilt rainforest of Guyana and the junction where the great Essequibo and Mazaruni meet.  Here you can spend  the afternoon relaxing or engaging in various activities including Swimming, canoeing, peddles boating, kayaking
or volleyball, after having a delicious buffet lunch.

Day 7

Marshall Falls Tour – This morning you can take a kayak on a nearby creek that takes you into the rainforest. As you silently paddle you will see many bird species, and possibly monkeys.  We go along the Mazaruni  River to see Kyk-Over-Al (See Over All) which was once the Dutch seat of Government in the County of Essequibo. Now all that remains on this island are the ruins of the former stronghold, which guarded the junction of the Mazaruni and Cuyuni Rivers. Further on up the Mazaruni River we reach the wild Marshall Falls, with its own Natural Jucuzzi. Back to Baganara Resort for lunch and back to Georgetown.
