Board a scheduled Gumair flight from Eugene F. Correia International Airport in Guyana to land at Zorg-en-Hoop Airport in Paramaribo (0815hrs flight).

Pick up from Zorg en Hoop and transfer to Paramaribo as we begin our tour in the inner city with a visit to the historic building complex, Fort Zeelandia. You will have an extensive guided tour from our guide. We continue the trip on foot, visiting Independence Square surrounded by historical buildings, including the Presidential Palace, the Palm Gardens, and Lim a Po Street, one of the most beautiful streets in Paramaribo. After this walk, we drive along the most prominent historical buildings with their unique architecture. We will make a photo stop at the Synagogue and Mosque, which are right next to each other. Our next stop will be the Cathedral, the tallest wooden building in the Western Hemisphere. The City Tour ends at the Waterkant along the Suriname River, a favorite meeting place for many Surinamese.

This afternoon, transfer to the pier at Leonsberg where we will be picked up for the Sunset Dolphin tour. While enjoying a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), we savor the cool breeze and river views. Meanwhile, the captain searches the horizon for dolphins. Normally, we see them swim by in groups of up to 20 dolphins. Sometimes they’re very curious, and if we are lucky, they will jump and play close to the boat. After enjoying this playful company, we head to the restored plantation Rust & Werk, where we will go for a walk in the village. Here, the descendants of the contract workers from Indonesia, known as the Javanese people, live. After the sun has set, we will get back on board, pour a drink, enjoy a local snack, and slowly make our way back to Leonsberg. Transfer to your hotel.

Breakfast at your hotel starting at 0600hrs. Pick up at your hotel as you depart from Paramaribo towards Atjoni around 09:00hrs. Along the way, you make two stops to use the sanitary facilities and to enjoy a snack. In the early afternoon, you will arrive at Atjoni, after which you will start the one-hour boat trip to Knini Paati. Upon arrival on the island, you can relax while enjoying a late lunch. After lunch, it is time for check-in, and you can settle into your assigned lodge. You have the opportunity to go swimming or to relax in a nearby rapid.

At 7 pm, it is time for the evening meal, after which you can continue to enjoy the quietness and sounds of nature. Overnight in a cabin at Knini Paati River Resort. BLD

Breakfast is ready at 08:00 and you leave at 09:00 for your first excursion to visit a local maroon community. This takes a few hours so that you are back on the island in time to enjoy lunch. Afterward, you are free to relax in a hammock with a good book or for a siesta. At 4 p.m. it is time for the next excursion, a nature walk which would last about an hour. You will be back in time to freshen up for the evening meal, at 7:00 pm, after which you can get ready for the third excursion, the caiman-watching boat trip. With larger groups of visitors, after returning to the lodge, there is a dance workshop from the local group Pasensi Uma during the second evening. Overnight in a cabin at Knini Paati River Resort. The third day of your stay is focused on relaxing. Breakfast is ready at 08:00 and afterward, you can enjoy your last hours on the island. Relax in the hammock on the balcony of your lodge or swim in the pool, or you can choose to revisit the nearby rapid before you get ready to return to the bustle of Paramaribo. At 11 a.m. it is time for the check-out, after which you will enjoy a delicious lunch at 11:30 a.m. At 12:00 we depart the resort for the return journey to Atjoni, where you will be picked up by our driver and continue the journey to Paramaribo. During the journey, we will make one sanitary stop so that you are back on time at your holiday address, satisfied with the beautiful journey of discovery in Upper Suriname.
